Son banned from asking mother for money after persistent harassment

Paul Oaks, 37, has been banned by magistrates from asking his mother, Lisa Green, for money following a period of persistent harassment. Over the course of nearly two weeks, Oaks repeatedly visited his mother’s home in Rowley Regis, Black Country, demanding money and refusing to leave.

During his court appearance at Walsall Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, January 20, Oaks admitted to harassment without violence. The incidents occurred between November 20 and December 5 of the previous year. The defendant’s behaviour caused significant distress to Ms Green, as detailed in court documents.

Oaks, residing on Brook Street, Woodsetton, Dudley, received an eight-week jail sentence and was ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge. Additionally, he was issued a restraining order that prohibits him from requesting money from his mother for the next two years. While he may still visit Ms Green’s property, he must leave immediately if she asks him to do so.

Magistrates clarified that the restraining order will remain in effect until January 19, 2028.

Oaks was also charged with engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour within a family relationship, involving allegations of drug use and leaving needles at his mother’s home. However, these charges were dropped after the prosecution offered no evidence.
