Solihull Shopkeeper Pleads Guilty to Sword Possession After Chasing Youth Amid Harassment

Daminda Heradh, a 49-year-old shopkeeper from Solihull, has pleaded guilty to possessing a sword in an incident where he chased a youth after allegedly facing persistent harassment. The case was heard at Birmingham Magistrates' Court, where it was disclosed that Heradh endured continuous intimidation from local youths, prompting his controversial response.

The court was told that Heradh, feeling threatened and desperate to protect himself and his property, carried a sword and pursued a local teenager. Although the act raised serious legal concerns, Heradh’s defense highlighted the ongoing distress he faced from repeated harassment in the community.

The magistrates deliberated on the circumstances, emphasizing the seriousness of carrying a weapon in public. Heradh now faces sentencing, which could include imprisonment, underscoring the legal consequences of his actions despite his claims of self-defense and harassment.
