A man who suffered a horrific assault outside Solihull Popworld, where part of his ear was bitten off, says he is still “living with the consequences” more than 16 months later.
The attack happened in the early hours of March 1, 2025, outside the nightclub on Poplar Road, when two men confronted the victim. Despite ongoing investigations, no arrests have been made, leaving the case unresolved.
Last year, West Midlands Police released CCTV footage of two men they wanted to identify, urging anyone who witnessed the incident or captured it on video to come forward. However, progress remains stalled.

Speaking to BirminghamLive, the victim recounted the traumatic night. He had been with his then-girlfriend when they argued outside the club. After she ran out crying, he saw her sitting on the ground talking with two men. Trying to intervene, he attempted to take her back inside, unaware the men were pressuring her into a taxi.
A confrontation broke out. During the struggle, one of the men put the victim in a headlock and attempted to choke him. It was then that the assailant bit off the top part of his ear.
The victim expressed the lasting physical and emotional impact. “I have to live with half an ear missing for the rest of my life,” he said. “About a week later, I had a breakdown, missed work, and was offered counseling, but I tried to move on.”
He also voiced frustration about the investigation. While praising the officers who assisted him immediately after the attack, he feels the police could have done more. “The case was shelved,” he said.
West Midlands Police confirmed no arrests have been made so far. A spokesperson appealed to the public for help: “If anyone has information about this assault or the individuals involved, please contact us via 101 or Live Chat on our website, quoting crime reference number 20/160310/25.”
