With the new school term just around the corner, a caring Solihull mum is making a real difference for families on a budget. Jenny Charman, owner of Kids2Kids Preloved in Shirley, has introduced a special 50p school uniform rail to ease the financial strain of last-minute school clothing needs.
As any parent knows, kids often have growth spurts right before the holidays, leaving parents scrambling to find replacements for worn-out trousers, stained shirts, or shoes that no longer fit. Jenny understands this struggle firsthand.
“We’ve all been there,” Jenny shares. “You think you’ve got everything sorted for school, then just weeks before summer, the kids suddenly shoot up!”

To tackle this common problem, the Kids2Kids Preloved store now features a dedicated rail where each school uniform item is just 50p. There’s even a box of school pumps available for the same price. The stock is regularly refreshed to offer a variety of items, encouraging parents to stop by and discover affordable schoolwear options.
“Our goal is to make those last few weeks of term easier and much more affordable,” Jenny explains.
Started as a humble website from home, Kids2Kids Preloved has grown into a thriving store on Oxhill Road, offering a wide selection of children’s clothes, shoes, and even fancy dress costumes. The shop also includes a games and book corner, making it a welcoming spot for families to browse and pick up holiday activities.
Jenny aims to change perceptions around second-hand shopping. “We want to normalise pre-loved shopping,” she says. “It should feel just as straightforward as popping into Primark or your local supermarket.”
Jenny’s two young sons, Ollie and Charlie, aged four and five, inspire her commitment to making school essentials accessible for all.
