Snow Maps Reveal UK Cities Bracing for March ‘Beast from the East’ Snowstorm with Temperatures as Low as -4C

New weather maps forecast a significant ‘Beast from the East’ style blizzard striking the UK in March. Starting as early as Wednesday, March 11, up to 31 cities are expected to experience snowfall, marking a chilling return of wintry conditions.

According to WXCharts, the snow will initially cover northern England and Scotland before spreading to the Midlands during the second week of March. Meanwhile, southern parts of England—including the Southwest and London—are forecast to see light snowfalls of 2 to 4 centimeters. Temperatures across the country are set to plunge, with lows reaching around -4°C.

Specific areas such as Wales, the Midlands, and northern England could see snow accumulation at various times, while parts of the North West and Northern Ireland are also likely to experience snow during the early hours of March 11.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast for early March describes “changeable conditions, with Atlantic frontal systems moving across the UK, mixed with drier, brighter spells.” Rainfall is expected to be heaviest in the northwest, with less precipitation in sheltered eastern regions. The southeast may enjoy relatively dry conditions, but high ground in the north could see occasional snow. The forecast also highlights the possibility of strong winds and gales, with temperatures near or slightly above average for much of the period.

The approaching storm signals a return to classic winter weather, impacting a broad area of the UK as spring edges closer.
