West Midlands Police conducted a significant day of action on Villa Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, on Thursday, 24 September, resulting in the towing of six vehicles for untaxed status. The operation, which began early in the morning, aimed to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.
During the crackdown, officers also removed an illegal e-bike from the road and carried out multiple stop and search procedures. Enforcement extended beyond vehicles, with one property found to be breaching its licensing conditions.
In addition, three notices were issued for violations of a Public Space Protection Order, alongside three community resolutions related to theft offences and three Community Protection Warnings.

Acting Detective Inspector Chloe Morgan of Operation Fearless emphasised the importance of partnership working in achieving the operation’s goals. She stated, “The success of Operation Fearless depends heavily on collaboration and listening to the community’s concerns. Since our launch in Handsworth, we have focused on addressing the crimes most affecting residents.”
Inspector Morgan added, “We want to assure law-abiding citizens that such criminal activities will not be tolerated here. We appreciate the ongoing information and feedback from the public, which plays a vital role in our efforts.”
The day’s operation featured cooperation between Operation Fearless officers, the force’s Mounted Unit, Neighbourhood Policing Teams, community representatives, property licensing officers, and charity partners, all contributing to the comprehensive approach to improving safety and community wellbeing in Handsworth.
