Birmingham City Council is set to auction six land parcels totaling over 1.3 acres across various locations in the city. This follows the authority’s recent success in raising nearly £3 million from previous land sales in September.
The council properties, freehold sites, will carry guide prices ranging from just over £5,000 to above £150,000, with interest anticipated to drive competitive bidding and potentially higher final sale prices.
Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of auctioneers Bond Wolfe, which is managing the sales, highlighted the appeal of these sites. “This collection of freehold vacant land totals nearly 1.3 acres spread across attractive locations in the city,” he said. “Each site may be suitable for various uses, subject to planning permission, and we anticipate strong interest from bidders.”

The largest parcel is a 1,657 square metre site on Terrace Road in Lozells, with a guide price of over £150,000. This irregularly shaped plot lies within a well-established residential neighbourhood about two miles northwest of Birmingham city centre. It offers excellent access to local amenities including shops and schools, as well as proximity to areas like Handsworth and Aston. Transport connections are convenient, with nearby routes including the A41, A4540, and easy links to the M6 motorway.
Another significant site is a 1,423 square metre plot on Tameside Drive in Castle Vale, with a guide price just above £125,000. Located in a residential district, it benefits from closeness to shops, schools, community facilities, and green spaces. Additional amenities are available at nearby Fort Shopping Park and Erdington, complemented by good road and public transport connections to the city centre and motorways like the A38 and M6.
In Sheldon, a 957 square metre parcel next to 142a-154 Hazeldene Road carries a guide price starting at £10,000. This rectangular site rests in an established residential area near local shops and schools. It is well placed for access to Birmingham International Airport, the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), and Birmingham International railway station, with the A45 Coventry Road and M6 nearby.
Further south-west, a 794 square metre land plot on Stevens Avenue in Bartley Green has a guide price from £50,000. Set in a popular residential locale, the land is close to everyday amenities, schools, and recreational facilities, with additional retail options available in Quinton and Harborne. The site offers good transport links to the city centre and the wider West Midlands motorway network.
Closer to the heart of the city, a 435 square metre site at the corner of Brearley Street and Crocketts Road in Handsworth is listed with a guide price above £10,000. This rectangular parcel enjoys a well-connected position near shops and community facilities, with straightforward access to city centre and motorways M5 and M6.
The smallest lot is a D-shaped area measuring 89 square metres located behind 41-45 Bowman Road in Great Barr, priced from £5,000. This quiet residential site benefits from proximity to local amenities and excellent transport routes into Birmingham city centre and the broader West Midlands region via the M6.
