Nilesh Pandit, the owner of a forthcoming entertainment venue in Shirley, is currently awaiting the outcome of his application for an alcohol licence. The venue, named ‘Hideout,’ is planned to open in the former Poundland unit at Parkgate Shopping Centre.
Pandit, who also operates the Rainforest Rascals soft play area and the Blnded café nearby, appeared in person at a recent Solihull Council licensing panel hearing. There, he detailed his vision for Hideout, which will offer electronic darts, shuffleboard, arcade games, and live sport screenings.
During the meeting, the committee explored the operational plans, including whether the venue would accept walk-in customers. Pandit stated that about half of the clientele might be walk-ins, with expected capacity reaching up to 200 guests downstairs and 50 to 100 upstairs on busy nights. He also assured that any waiting will take place in a designated waiting room where guests are escorted to their seats, eliminating concerns about street queues.

However, not all nearby businesses are supportive. The adjacent hair and beauty salon, Bei Capelli, submitted an objection, expressing concerns over increasing local crime and fearing that the new venue could deter customers, potentially forcing them to relocate.
In response, Pandit emphasized the venue’s commitment to safety and order, detailing plans to install security cameras throughout the premises and require ID checks. He highlighted his 15 years of business experience and his readiness to implement robust procedures and employ trained staff.
The council’s licensing panel will make its decision privately and notify Pandit within the coming week. Pandit remains optimistic, underlining the community need for new, safe recreational activities. He envisions Hideout as a vibrant spot attracting young people with interactive entertainment such as VR experiences, provided patrons meet expected behavior and dress standards.
