WhatsApp is rolling out seven new features for both iPhone and Android users, aiming to enhance communication and customization across the platform.
Owned by Meta and used by millions across the UK, WhatsApp stated, “We’re always working to keep our users closely connected, no matter where they are in the world. But we understand that sometimes language can be a barrier to getting things done or expressing how you truly feel. That’s why we’re excited to bring message translations to WhatsApp, so you can more easily communicate across languages.”
Among the new updates are Live Photos for iOS and Motion Photos for Android, allowing users to share moments with sound and movement, bringing chats to life with richer content.

Additionally, WhatsApp has introduced AI-powered Chat Themes and backgrounds. Users can now leverage Meta AI to create personalized chat themes and unique video call backgrounds, placing themselves in their favorite settings or trying something new. AI-generated backgrounds can also be added when capturing photos and videos directly within chats.
Sticker lovers will appreciate the new themed packs like Fearless Bird, School Days, and Vacation, featuring charming characters perfect for expressing feelings without words.
Group chat management has been simplified with an improved group search function. Now, you can search for a contact’s name in your Chats tab to instantly find any groups you share, making navigation easier.
Finally, Android users gain the ability to scan, crop, save, and send documents directly within WhatsApp, streamlining the sharing of important files without leaving the app.
These updates reflect WhatsApp’s commitment to making communication seamless, creative, and accessible for users worldwide.
