Serial Killer Rose West Urges Fellow Prisoner to ‘Run to the Police’ in Haunting Final Words

Rose West, one of the UK’s most notorious serial killers, gave a chilling piece of advice to a fellow inmate before her release: “Run to the police.” The 72-year-old murderer, infamous for torturing and killing ten young women, shared these haunting words during a brief encounter behind bars.

Fred West, her late husband, was charged with 12 murders but ended his life in January 1995 at HMP Birmingham while awaiting trial. This left Rose West to face justice alone, resulting in a whole life sentence handed down in November 1995.

Recently, a former fraudster named Stephanie, imprisoned in November 2024 for embezzling £30,000, opened up about her time alongside West at HM Prison New Hall’s Rivendell unit near Wakefield. Stephanie described the unsettling atmosphere of prison life, filled with paedophiles, terrorists, and violent offenders, and recounted her encounters with West.

Stephanie recalls West—who now goes by Jennifer Jones—introducing herself with a noticeable excitement. Despite her grim reputation, West complimented Stephanie’s name warmly. The infamous killer had reportedly been moved to the unit after threats from another convicted murderer, Joanna Dennehy.

Life in prison sees West maintaining a surprisingly orderly cell, complete with DVDs of David Attenborough nature documentaries. She is also known for trading her cornflakes for porridge with other inmates, revealing small glimpses into her daily routine.

In their final conversation, West issued a stark warning: “You never, ever want to spend your life in prison like me – and if you meet anyone that’s bad, you just make sure you run to the police.” These words offer a rare glimpse of regret or caution from one of Britain’s darkest criminals.

West’s former home, known infamously as the House of Horrors on Cromwell Street, was demolished in 1996. The site has since become a public walkway, but locals say a chilling energy still lingers, casting a shadow over the area. Many avoid walking down the path, describing the atmosphere as cold and eerie, a stark reminder of the horrors that once took place there.
