A Birmingham driver has sparked outrage after illegally parking on a pavement in Bordesley Green, forcing a mother to take her children into the road to pass the obstructing vehicle.
The white BMW was photographed blocking the sidewalk, prompting Dr Graham Beards to share the image on the neighbourhood forum Nextdoor, where it quickly drew numerous complaints from concerned locals. Dr Beards described the illegal parking as a “big problem in our neighbourhood,” highlighting ongoing frustrations.
One mother recounted the unsafe experience, explaining, “I had a twin pushchair and had to take them into the road to get past. How unbelievably inconsiderate! They should lose their licence and retake the driving test.”

Other residents echoed her concerns, labeling the driver “selfish” and a “total disgrace.” Comments pointed to a broader issue with inconsiderate parking in the area. One user remarked, “There are many selfish people who disregard the needs of wheelchair users and pedestrians. Until attitudes change, problems will persist.”
Concerns were also raised about the wider dangers of illegal parking. A resident noted, “Blocking pavements doesn’t just cause inconvenience—it can obstruct emergency access and pose serious safety risks. This issue urgently needs addressing.”
Some called for enforcement action, urging that the photo be reported to the West Midlands Police’s ‘snap line’ for illegal parking violations.
