Santander is sweetening the deal for customers switching their current accounts by offering a £200 bonus to those who successfully move to the bank using the Current Account Switch Service. The bank encourages potential customers by saying, “Some decisions in life you’re stuck with. Fortunately, your current account’s not one of them.”
To qualify for the £200 reward, customers must open an eligible Santander current account, request a switch through the official service, and complete the process within 60 days. Additionally, they need to set up at least two active household Direct Debits and receive a minimum of £1,500 in payments into their account. If all eligibility criteria are met, the £200 will be credited 90 days after the switch request.
Santander is clear about the offer’s restrictions: the incentive is not available to those who already had a Santander current account on January 1, 2025, or who have previously claimed a Santander switcher incentive.

Customers can apply for an account easily online or at a branch. During application, new customers are prompted to confirm if they want to switch accounts. Existing Santander customers looking to switch accounts from another bank can initiate the switch via online banking’s ‘Switch Online’ section or by visiting a local branch.
To ensure a smooth switch, Santander advises customers to verify and, if necessary, update their personal information, such as names and addresses, with their old bank before starting the process. The bank guarantees the seamless transfer of account balances, regular income payments—including salary, pension, or benefits—and all Direct Debits and standing orders. Additionally, all payees and mistaken incoming payments to the old account will also be moved to the new Santander account to avoid any disruption.
