Santander has made a significant leadership change within its private banking division, announcing Kitty McCormick as the new CEO of Cater Allen Private Bank. This appointment marks a notable shift after Jon Howe’s 17-year tenure leading the subsidiary.
Cater Allen, a prominent branch of Santander UK, specializes in private banking services tailored to individuals, businesses, trusts, charities, pension administrators, and executors. The bank offers a range of current and savings accounts alongside specialist financial services.
Kitty McCormick brings over 15 years of extensive private banking experience to her new role. Before joining Cater Allen, she served three years as Head of Private Banking at Santander UK. Her earlier career includes leadership positions at NatWest and Coutts, where she honed her skills in supporting private banking clients and spearheading development operations.

Reporting directly to Gail Russell, Head of Everyday Banking at Santander UK, Kitty succeeds Jon Howe, who recently stepped down after nearly two decades at Cater Allen’s helm. Gail Russell expressed enthusiasm about the transition, highlighting Kitty’s deep expertise, strong customer focus, and people-first leadership style as key assets for the brand’s continued growth.
Commenting on her new role, Kitty McCormick said, “I’m excited to lead Cater Allen into its next chapter. The brand is in a strong position today, and I look forward to building on that momentum with the team. Together, we will focus on delivering innovative developments for both new and existing customers while strengthening our offerings in the years ahead.”
Throughout her career, Kitty has demonstrated a commitment to innovation and client service, having been Director of Lending and Capital Management and Head of Innovation at Coutts. Most recently, before joining Santander UK in 2023, she was Director of Client Service at NatWest Group.
With this leadership change, Cater Allen aims to continue enhancing its private banking services and solidify its reputation within the industry.
