Rubery Convenience Store Targeted in Early Morning Machete Robbery

Authorities are appealing for witnesses following a brazen armed robbery at the Rubery Express convenience store on New Road in Rubery. The incident occurred in the early hours of February 19, shortly before 4 a.m.

According to reports, a group of three to four men, described as being of Asian appearance, entered the store wearing balaclavas and armed with a machete. They demanded cash from the premises. Witnesses recall distinct details of their clothing, with one suspect dressed in a light grey hoodie paired with grey bottoms and boots; another wearing a black raincoat, camouflage trousers, and black and white trainers; and a third in a very light grey top with black bottoms and trainers.

The suspects fled on foot, taking an undisclosed sum of cash, several vape products, and the store’s till.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and have increased patrols in the area as the investigation continues. Detective Inspector Dave Knight from Reactive CID emphasized the importance of gathering further information: “We urge anyone who witnessed the robbery or who may have captured relevant footage, such as dashcam video, to come forward.”

Detectives are also seeking to identify an Asian man seen entering the store shortly before the robbery; he purchased a bottle of water and may hold key information to aid the investigation.
