Channel 4 has announced that comedian Rob Beckett will replace Paddy McGuinness as the host of the popular game show Tempting Fortune. The 40-year-old Beckett is set to take over the reins for the upcoming third series, following McGuinness’s departure in December 2025 due to other commitments.
Rob Beckett shared his enthusiasm about the new role with The Sun, saying, “Put people in the jungle, take away everything nice, then tempt them with hot showers and burgers. It’s hilarious. Everyone thinks they can resist temptation… until they’re hot and filthy, and suddenly morals go out the window. I’m very happy to be hosting this show, especially from the comfort of a lovely crew hotel.”
Tempting Fortune challenges twelve strangers to embark on an intense 18-day journey across remote wilderness locations such as South Africa’s Eastern Cape and Langkawi, Malaysia. Contestants are given only basic survival gear and must avoid succumbing to a series of luxury temptations offered during the expedition. Each indulgence reduces the collective prize fund of £300,000 awaiting them at the end.

The third series, scheduled to be filmed in Malaysia and commencing early this year, promises “more extreme conditions, more enticing temptations, and some dramatic new twists that will put even greater pressure on the shared cash pot.”
Paddy McGuinness, who hosted the show’s first two series, announced his departure last December. The 52-year-old presenter expressed his feelings: “I am happy to be passing the baton on, and the new host is in for a real treat because it’s a great show. I will be sad to leave it, but with other commitments and spending more time with my family, I’ve had to make some difficult choices.”
A Channel 4 spokeswoman added, “Paddy has been a brilliant host of Tempting Fortune, bringing his trademark humour to both series. We’re grateful for everything he’s brought to the show, and we totally understand that the overseas filming commitment is significant, meaning he is unable to join us for the next series.”
