Reform UK’s Walsall Leader Criticizes £23 Million Net Zero Spending and Proposes National Anthem at Council Meetings

Councillor Elaine Williams, the recently named leader of Walsall Council representing Reform UK, has voiced strong opposition to the council’s £23 million investment in net zero policies, calling the expenditure “wasted money.” Williams argued that the funds have not delivered effective results and questioned the council’s priorities in addressing environmental goals.

In addition to her criticism of net zero spending, Williams revealed plans to reinstate the National Anthem at council meetings, aiming to reinforce civic pride and unity within the community. This move reflects her broader commitment to promoting traditional values and a more transparent council approach.

Since taking leadership, Councillor Williams has already overseen £109,000 in savings through more efficient budget management and cost-cutting measures. She emphasized the need to focus on financial responsibility and practical governance that better serves the residents of Walsall.
