Queens Heath Pride Returns to Birmingham for Its Fifth Year with March, Performances, and Community Events

Queens Heath Pride, the vibrant Birmingham pride event founded by comedian Joe Lycett in 2021, is back for its fifth stunning year on Sunday, June 21. What started as a bold community initiative to counter anti-LGBTQIA+ protests outside local schools has blossomed into a beloved annual celebration that brings together people from all walks of life.

This year’s Queens Heath Pride remains true to its roots as a fully inclusive, community-led festival. The day features a lively march beginning at 11am outside the tea rooms at Kings Heath Park, inviting participants to proudly express themselves and show solidarity.

From 1pm to 6pm, York Road will host a dynamic stage managed by the Hare and Hounds, one of Birmingham’s premier independent gig venues, showcasing an array of queer performers. In true Queens Heath Pride spirit, there are no headliners; instead, the event highlights the unique talents of every artist equally.

The Heathfield Road Market will be open from 11am to 5pm, offering craft stalls alongside an informal youth café housed in the Kings Heath Community Centre’s quiet zone. This space is designed with accessibility and comfort in mind, featuring an accessible viewing area staffed to assist visitors with access needs, gender-inclusive toilets, and additional amenities like accessible portaloos both at the community centre and nearby car park.

Families, young people, and anyone seeking a welcoming, safe environment will find plenty to enjoy, including social spaces that prioritize inclusivity and support for all attendees.

To round off the day, an afterparty will take place at the Hare and Hounds starting at 6pm. Collaborating with Hot Flush, the event promises live DJs, karaoke, party games, art, and performances. Tickets for the afterparty are priced at £10, with discounted options available to ensure everyone can join the celebration. While Queens Heath Pride is free to attend, guests are encouraged to contribute what they can to help sustain this vital community event.

Queens Heath Pride continues to grow as a vital platform for queer visibility, creativity, and community connection in Birmingham, making it a must-attend celebration this June.
