Prince William and Kate have officially moved into their long-awaited “forever home,” Forest Lodge, a stunning Grade II-listed eight-bedroom mansion located in Windsor’s Home Park. This move marks a departure from their previous residence at Adelaide Cottage, as the family settles into a beautifully restored property following an extensive £14 million renovation.
The relocation was carefully planned to coincide with the children’s half-term break, allowing Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to adjust smoothly to their new surroundings. The couple had aimed to complete the move by Bonfire Night, a goal they successfully achieved.
This new chapter comes on the heels of Kate’s recovery from cancer, symbolizing a fresh start for the family. Meanwhile, William is preparing for his upcoming solo trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he will host the prestigious Earthshot Prize Awards.

Interestingly, the move places the Wales family temporarily closer to Prince Andrew, William’s disgraced uncle, who remains at Royal Lodge within Windsor Great Park—just about 1.4 miles away. However, Andrew is expected to relocate early next year to a property on the King’s private Sandringham estate in Norfolk. This shift follows his removal of royal titles by King Charles amid the Epstein scandal, a controversy that the Duke of York strongly denies. Reports suggest Prince William and Kate fully support the King’s firm stance on the matter.
Prior to the family’s move, an exclusion zone was established around Forest Lodge in September. This included the permanent closure of Cranbourne Gate and Cranbourne car park, a decision that sparked concern among local residents. Within half a mile of the estate, residents were previously able to apply for gate keys at an annual fee of £110. Additional fencing now secures sections of the 2.3-mile perimeter enclosing the estate’s 150 acres.
It’s important to note that Forest Lodge falls within a protected area under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act (SOCPA) 2005, making trespassing a criminal offense.
Apart from Forest Lodge, the Wales family also owns Anmer Hall, a 10-bedroom mansion located on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, and Apartment 1A within Kensington Palace, London.
