Primark is preparing to offer home delivery to shoppers in the UK for the first time. The popular retailer, which operates stores in Birmingham, Solihull and other locations, announced plans to make its products available for online ordering with delivery directly to customers' homes.
Primark’s parent company, Associated British Foods (ABF), disclosed in a recent trading update that it has acquired a warehouse in Sheffield to support this new service. Although the exact launch date for home delivery has not been confirmed, the company stated it will be introduced “in the future.”
ABF highlighted Primark’s growing digital capabilities, noting the success of its existing click and collect service and ongoing online market developments. These advancements have opened new opportunities for profitable growth through home delivery.

George Weston, Chief Executive of ABF, commented on the company’s progress, saying: “Our priority focus areas, the UK and womenswear, continued to outperform other markets and categories. Primark has made significant advancements in building its digital presence and will continue expanding click and collect alongside launching home delivery in Great Britain. This channel presents an opportunity for additional profitable growth.”
Primark’s enhanced click and collect service currently allows customers to shop online and pick up their purchases in-store. Introducing home delivery aims to offer more convenience for shoppers.
In its latest trading update, ABF reported that Primark’s sales are projected to have declined by 2.6% over the past financial year on a like-for-like basis. This decrease was largely attributed to weaker sales in continental Europe, while UK sales are estimated to have risen by 0.6% year-on-year.
The retailer saw a strong start to the summer season; however, the unusually prolonged hot weather delayed consumer interest in autumn clothing ranges, impacting sales.
Primark faces competition from retailers such as New Look, but the introduction of home delivery is expected to enhance its service offering and appeal to a wider range of customers in the UK.
