Poundstretcher to Open New Store in Warwickshire Following Original Factory Shop Collapse

Poundstretcher is set to launch a new store in Warwickshire next week, stepping into the former premises of the Original Factory Shop on Long Street in Atherstone. The grand opening will take place on Friday, June 26, with the first 100 customers receiving special goody bags as a welcome gift.

The Original Factory Shop went into administration in January 2026 and subsequently closed all 137 UK stores and its website on April 4, 2026, after failing to find a viable buyer. This closure resulted in nearly 1,200 staff redundancies.

The new Poundstretcher store will occupy over 6,000 square feet, offering a wide selection of products including clothing, DIY tools, gardening supplies, health and beauty items, home décor, snacks, storage solutions, pet products, sweets, and drinks.

The opening event will be officially marked by Sara Bishop, Mayor of Atherstone. The store’s establishment is expected to create up to 15 new jobs in the local community.

Andy Atkinson, CEO of Poundstretcher, commented, “With household budgets still under pressure, we are dedicated to expanding our store network and ensuring more people have access to quality products at affordable prices. We’re excited to open our doors in Atherstone and welcome local shoppers on June 26th.”
