Birmingham city centre was temporarily sealed off this evening due to an incident on New Street. Eyewitnesses reported a police cordon outside the Size? store, located opposite the city’s Apple Store, with a number of police vehicles and officers present.
At approximately 8:20pm, observers noted two to three officers remained at the scene. Police tape was seen stretched between the trees along New Street, covering the area from the shoe store to the edge of the Apple Store near the tram line, opposite the ramp.
A witness, who preferred to remain anonymous, described the situation: “There is a police cordon in place, with police vehicles and several officers on site. They appear to be waiting for forensic teams to arrive.”

Photographs taken at the scene show an officer standing in front of the police tape. Additional officers were also observed on the opposite side of the cordoned-off area.
West Midlands Police has been contacted for comment regarding the ongoing situation. Similarly, West Midlands Ambulance Service has been approached for information.
