West Midlands Police continue their extensive search for Andrew Dill, a devoted Birmingham City fan who vanished without a trace in 2003. With the 23rd anniversary of his disappearance looming, the case remains one of the force’s longest-running missing person investigations.
Andrew, then 38, was last seen on April 28, 2003, when his girlfriend dropped him off at Hednesford train station in Staffordshire. The following day, he spoke briefly to a friend on the phone, but after that, all contact ceased. Despite repeated attempts by family and friends to reach him, calls went unanswered and messages were declined.
His disappearance was reported by his father in May 2003, prompting an extensive police investigation. Authorities searched Andrew’s flat near a canal by Birmingham city centre and scoured the nearby waterway, but found no clues. His residence appeared undisturbed, as if he intended to return.

In a bid to uncover new information, West Midlands Police’s Missing Persons Review Team have issued a renewed appeal. They are urging anyone who knew Andrew or might recall details about him during the early 2000s to come forward.
One intriguing lead involves a sky blue Nokia 3310 phone with dark blue trim reportedly found in Birmingham city centre between late April and early May 2003. Officers are keen to trace this phone in hopes it may provide vital clues.
PC Rob Jones emphasized the unusual nature of Andrew’s disappearance: “He was well connected with family and friends and wouldn’t simply disappear without explanation. We want to hear from anyone who remembers him or the phone to help piece together what happened.”
Andrew’s family continues to hope for answers and closure after all these years. Anyone with information, no matter how small, is encouraged to contact the police Missing Persons Review Team directly at 0121 626 7003.
