Police Renew Appeal Five Years After Newborn Found Dead in Walsall Canal

Five years after the heartbreaking discovery of a newborn baby boy’s body in a Walsall canal, West Midlands Police have relaunched their appeal for information. On May 20, 2021, the infant was found in the Wyrley and Essington Canal at Rough Wood Country Park near Willenhall. Authorities believe the baby may have been in the water for several days before being found.

Detective Inspector Matt Marston acknowledged the difficulty some may face in coming forward but emphasized the importance of every piece of information. “This baby’s short life and tragic death must not be forgotten,” he said. To make it easier for those hesitant to speak by phone, a dedicated secure web page has been set up to receive tips anonymously.

The police spokesperson reiterated the ongoing commitment to justice for the infant. “Since the day he was found, we have followed up on every lead and are urging anyone with information to help us bring answers to this heartbreaking case.” In addition to the online portal, information can also be given anonymously through Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.

Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to contact the police via the dedicated website, live chat service, or by calling 101 and quoting log number 1963 of May 20, 2021. The force continues to appeal to the public to come forward to ensure justice is served for the baby boy.
