Authorities swarmed Dublin Airport to arrest a man in his 20s who is suspected of murdering toddler Daniel Aruebose several years ago. The man was apprehended shortly after arriving on a flight deporting him from Brazil.
Daniel Aruebose, believed to have been around three years old when he went missing, was tragically found dead. Gardaí suspect that Daniel died in 2021 and was buried on land off Portrane Road in Donabate, north Dublin. His skeletal remains were uncovered in September last year in the area.
According to sources, the suspect had been living in Brazil for several years until Brazilian Federal Police arrested him last December due to irregular immigration status. He remained in custody there until his recent deportation to Ireland.

Brazilian authorities confirmed that the arrest was part of an international operation conducted in cooperation with Irish Gardaí. Due to the absence of an extradition treaty between Ireland and Brazil, Brazilian officials facilitated the deportation as Gardaí could not extradite him under current agreements.
Daniel’s disappearance first came to light after the Department of Social Protection found inconsistencies while verifying social welfare payments connected to him.
Upon arrival, the man was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin, where investigations into the circumstances of Daniel’s death continue.
A Garda spokesperson stated: “As part of the investigation into the death of Daniel Aruebose, Gardaí have arrested a male in his 20s on suspicion of murder. He is currently detained, and inquiries are ongoing.”
