The smoking ban, which was introduced in 2007, continues to shape the atmosphere in pubs across the UK. In Birmingham, the Scott Arms pub in Great Barr is reinforcing these rules to ensure a pleasant experience for all customers.
In response to increased patron activity, the Scott Arms has decided to prohibit the use of its pool table on Friday and Saturday nights. The pub shared this update on social media, urging visitors to “please respect others.”
The post stated: “Smoking or vaping inside the Scotts Arms is not permitted. To help us achieve this, on a Friday and Saturday, the pool table will no longer be in use. Please respect others and vape outside.”

While smoking and vaping remain banned indoors, they are currently allowed outside. However, recent leaked reports from 2024 suggest the government may soon introduce a ban on smoking in pub beer gardens. As of now, no official confirmation has been made regarding this potential policy change.
The Scott Arms’ decision underlines their commitment to maintaining a respectful and smoke-free environment for all customers during peak times.
