Plans for Live Music and Community Event at Victoria Common in Northfield This July

Northfield Community Partnership has submitted an application to Birmingham City Council for a premises licence to hold a community event at Victoria Common in Northfield. Scheduled from Wednesday, 22 July to Sunday, 26 July 2026, the event aims to provide a variety of regulated entertainment from 10am to 4pm each day.

Traditionally, Northfield Carnival takes place in early July at Victoria Common, but this new application seeks to extend the festivities with live music, recorded music, performances, demonstrations, exhibitions, and food and beverage offerings tailored to the local community. While food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available, the sale of alcohol is not included in the licence application, and any alcohol provision would require separate authorization.

The proposed venue, located at Priory Telephone Exchange, Meeting House Lane, Birmingham B31 2LD, will support a family-friendly atmosphere with daytime events designed to engage residents and visitors alike. However, the council acknowledges that increased attendance might lead to higher footfall, additional parking needs, and temporary noise from musical and entertainment activities.

Community members who have concerns or may be affected by the event are encouraged to submit written representations to the Licensing Authority by 30 June 2026. These can be sent via post or email to [email protected].

If granted, the licence may include specific conditions related to noise management, site layout, stewarding, and safe dispersal to minimize disruption. The licensing sub-committee will review all submissions before approving, modifying, or rejecting the application.

Northfield Community Partnership, as the applicant, emphasizes their commitment to supporting a vibrant community programme that enhances local cultural life through this event. Transparency and compliance with licensing regulations remain paramount in the process.
