Pair Hospitalized After Crash Outside Marks & Spencer in Longbridge

A man and a woman were rushed to hospital following a two-vehicle collision outside the Marks & Spencer store on Longbridge High Street in Birmingham.

The incident occurred at 2:36 pm on Tuesday, December 16. Emergency services responded promptly after reports of the crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

Paramedics found the man, who was the pedestrian, with potentially serious injuries. He received treatment at the scene before being transported urgently to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with blue lights flashing.

The woman, a passenger in one of the cars, sustained injuries that are not believed to be serious. She was also taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further care.

The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and cooperated fully with police officers during their investigation.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian on Longbridge High Street at 2:36 pm. We dispatched two ambulances, three paramedic officers, and a critical care car. Upon arrival, the pedestrian was treated for potentially serious injuries and conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. A female passenger sustained injuries not considered serious and was also taken to the hospital.”

West Midlands Police confirmed the incident, stating: “Shortly after 2:30 pm, we responded to a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Longbridge High Street. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. The driver remained at the scene and is assisting with enquiries.”
