Pair Deny Dumping Wooden Boards and Altering Van Number Plates in Birmingham

Two residents of Beechmount Drive, Birmingham—59-year-old Elrashid Elaagib and 41-year-old Samar Abdelsalam—have denied charges relating to illegal dumping and vehicle number plate tampering. The pair appeared before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on May 7, each facing three charges.

The first allegation involves the unauthorized dumping of wooden boards from a Mercedes Sprinter van on Crick Lane, Handsworth, on July 9, 2024, without the required permit. The second charge concerns their failure to comply with a notice issued by Birmingham City Council seeking information to identify the driver of the vehicle at the time of the incident. The third accusation involves the fraudulent alteration of a trade plate, enabling the use of a falsified registration plate.

Neither Elaagib nor Abdelsalam had legal representation at the hearing. When asked to explain their not guilty pleas, Elaagib stated that he had sold the vehicle before the alleged offenses took place. Abdelsalam maintained she had no knowledge of the incidents in question.
