Paddy McGuinness Sparks Debate Over Sunday Roast as Fans Focus on Gravy

Paddy McGuinness has stirred up a lively debate among fans after sharing a photo of his Sunday roast dinner. The 52-year-old TV presenter spent a wholesome weekend with his three children, celebrating Valentine’s Day by preparing the traditional British meal — but his version didn’t quite sit right with everyone.

Typical Sunday roasts in the UK usually feature roasted meat such as beef, chicken, lamb, or pork, served alongside crispy roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables like carrots and parsnips, and plenty of savory gravy. Classic sauces such as horseradish or mint sauce often accompany the meal.

Paddy’s plate included roast chicken breast, a generous serving of roast and mashed potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, Brussels sprouts, and pigs in blankets. While the assortment seemed fitting, it was the minimal amount of gravy that caught the most attention.

Many fans couldn’t resist commenting on the “drizzle” of gravy, with one writing, “Needs way more gravy! You’re supposed to be a Northern lad.” Another echoed the sentiment: “Lovely Paddy but get some gravy on your dinner,” while a third insisted, “Not enough gravy there @paddymcguinness — up North, food has got to be swimming in the stuff.”

Beyond the gravy debate, some followers also noticed the absence of parsnips, a staple vegetable in many Sunday roasts, and voiced concerns over the pigs in blankets, suggesting they looked undercooked and could have been crispier.

Despite the critiques, plenty of fans praised the meal, calling it a “banging roast” and applauding Paddy’s cooking effort.

This isn’t the first time Paddy has grabbed headlines recently. The former Top Gear presenter has openly shared his remarkable fitness transformation. After a two-month period of indulging in “binge eating” with beer, cakes, and biscuits, Paddy embarrassedly revealed his before photo showing his belly hanging over his shorts.

Determined to change, he undertook the “Hard 75” challenge, a demanding 75-day program developed by Andy Frisella that requires strict adherence to a diet (no alcohol or cheat meals), two daily 45-minute workouts (one outdoors), drinking a gallon of water, reading 10 pages of nonfiction, and taking a daily progress photo — with any slip-up meaning starting over from day one.

Just 75 days later, Paddy appeared chiselled, sporting defined abs and a noticeably leaner physique. He described the drastic change, writing, “I still can’t believe how much I’d let myself go. That before pic is the result of just under two months of binge eating — beer, cakes, and biscuits! The effect it had on my body, and more importantly my mind, was staggering.”

He promised to share a full time-lapse of the 75-day challenge soon, celebrating the transformation and the power of willpower. Now, on the lookout for his next challenge, Paddy continues to inspire fans both in and out of the kitchen.
