Ozzy Osbourne’s Dormant Ozzfest Hints at 2027 Comeback – Could Villa Park Be the Venue?

This year marks 30 years since Sharon Osbourne launched the iconic Ozzfest music festival, created as a bold response to Lollapalooza rejecting her rock star husband, Ozzy Osbourne. Now, seven months after Ozzy’s electrifying final performance at Villa Park Stadium, excitement is building around the possibility of Ozzfest making a grand comeback.

Ozzfest quickly became a legendary showcase of rock and metal music, touring across America, Europe, and Japan. It gave a platform to emerging alternative acts while featuring headline sets from Ozzy himself. The festival’s last official edition was New Year’s Eve 2018 in California, and since then, its social media presence has largely focused on celebrating its history.

However, recent posts have reignited fan speculation with teasing questions: “Will Ozzfest return in 2027??” and “What’s your ‘Attitude’ on a possible Ozzfest return?” The responses from followers and fellow artists have been enthusiastic. Hatebreed’s frontman Jamey Jasta exclaimed, “Let’s goooo!” Fear Factory added, “Let’s do this!” while Birmingham-based band Born Hostile proudly declared, “Make Birmingham metal again!”

The spirit of Ozzfest was palpable earlier this year during Ozzy’s final Birmingham concert—dubbed “Back To The Beginning”—held just weeks before his passing. The event united top bands from the rock and metal scenes in the birthplace of Black Sabbath and metal music itself. It sold out quickly, with fans flocking for merch and witnessing a Grammy-winning supergroup performance led by Yungblud.

Outside the stadium, metal enthusiasts celebrated in the city’s iconic venues like The Crown pub and the Black Sabbath Bench, embodying Birmingham’s status as the heartland of heavy metal.

Given this overwhelming support and success – including benefits for various charities – Birmingham’s place as metal’s true home was solidified. This raises an exciting question: could Villa Park Stadium, with its 40,000 capacity and close ties to the Osbournes, become the permanent home for an annual Ozzfest?

For now, the answer remains uncertain. But for many fans, a return of Ozzfest to its roots in Birmingham would be a dream come true. Would you love to see Ozzfest live at Villa Park? Let us know in the comments below.
