OVO is rolling out a commercial solar service aimed at helping UK businesses significantly reduce their energy expenses—by as much as 50%. This new offering allows local companies with suitable rooftops or land to generate clean, affordable electricity on-site, providing a reliable solution against rising energy prices.
Initially available to businesses in parts of the South West, South East, East of England, Greater London, Scotland, and Wales, the service will expand nationwide later this year. Importantly, companies can participate regardless of their current energy supplier.
With soaring energy costs continuing to challenge small and medium-sized enterprises, on-site solar power presents a practical strategy to lower operational expenses. By installing solar panels, businesses can cut electricity bills by 30 to 50%, securing stable, reduced energy prices for 25 years or more.

This commercial solar service builds on OVO’s expanding network of trusted local solar installers. Collaborating with regional partners, the initiative not only helps businesses reduce costs but also promotes skilled local jobs and strengthens community supply chains.
The comprehensive service covers every step—from initial site surveys and system design to installation and ongoing maintenance of high-efficiency solar panels tailored for commercial use.
Given that businesses often use most electricity during daylight hours, solar installations offer rapid financial returns, typically paying for themselves within 4 to 8 years.
Ed Janvrin, Director of Franchise at OVO, stated: “Energy bills are a significant concern for local businesses. This launch provides them with practical control over their costs. Generating their own power enables businesses to manage expenses, shield themselves from energy market fluctuations, and reinvest savings back into their operations and communities.
“We’re proud to partner with local installers to deliver systems that not only lower carbon emissions but also boost local economies.”
