Transport authorities have confirmed that 23 separate overnight closures will affect major motorways across the Midlands this week. These disruptions are set to impact the M1, M5, M6, and M42 motorways, key arteries in the region’s transport network.
National Highways, the organisation responsible for managing England’s motorway system, has urged drivers to prepare and plan their journeys accordingly between 17 and 20 August. Typically, closures are scheduled to operate from 8pm to 6am, unless extending beyond 12 hours, in which case timings may vary.
However, for this week’s maintenance work, many closures are starting slightly later, often at 9pm. Motorists travelling late at night or in the early hours should be particularly mindful that their routes may be affected by these scheduled closures beginning the previous evening.
