Finding a fun and engaging day out for a toddler can often feel like a challenge, especially after ticking off all the usual soft plays, parks, zoos, and farms nearby. So when I heard about Peppa Pig Space Adventure opening at Birmingham NEC for the summer, it seemed like the perfect idea.
Although my 17-month-old daughter isn’t a huge Peppa Pig fan yet, she thrives on interactive experiences — and we parents appreciate that too! Promoted as an “out-of-this-world adventure” filled with playful discovery and hands-on fun, we were eager to explore what awaited us.
Developed under license from Hasbro, the event promises storytelling and play within a calm, welcoming environment designed for families to enjoy together.
Arriving a little earlier than our ticket time, we first visited the new Lakeside area opposite the venue. This family-friendly space included a children’s play area, activity trail, picnic seating, food stalls, and a giant outdoor screen playing CBeebies. Swings, slides, and climbing frames kept our toddler happily entertained for half an hour before we headed inside.
Peppa Pig Space Adventure itself features a spacious welcome area with tables, chairs, colouring activities, a buggy park, toilets, and a gift shop. When our session began, two charming entertainers welcomed us, handing over interactive stars and explaining they’d guide us on our space journey.
The adventure is inspired by Peppa’s imaginative play on rainy days, transforming indoor fun into a space exploration. We started at Peppa’s house, recreated just like in the TV show, including the kitchen, living room, bedrooms, nursery, and playroom — all filled with sights and hands-on activities. My daughter especially loved crafting a wooden sandwich in the kitchen!
What truly caught us by surprise was the interactive star device. In every room, placing the star against wall shapes triggered fun reactions. In the living room, for example, you could “change channels” on the TV. Our favourite was the record player, where pressing buttons altered the music, and my toddler happily danced along for ages.
The journey continued to the launch pad, packed with even more interactive elements. Using the star, we counted down to blast off, explored bubbling lamps, played shape-sorting games, and she even got to steer the rocket. The final moon landing room was a sensory wonderland — with soft play zones, bouncy areas, and tactile moon craters. My partner even joined in a friendly race on space hopper bikes.
The cherry on top was meeting Peppa Pig herself at the end. I wasn’t sure how my daughter would react, but she grinned widely and even kissed Peppa’s nose before posing for a photo.
Our afternoon at Peppa Pig Space Adventure was full of laughter, exploration, and surprises. Though the experience lasts about an hour, which some may find short for the ticket price starting at £20, the interactive elements and immersive design make it a special treat for families with young children who adore Peppa Pig.
Peppa Pig Space Adventure is held inside a purpose-built area at Birmingham’s NEC from May 23, running on selected dates through November.
