Olly Murs Shares MRI Update, Reveals the True Extent of His Knee Struggles

Olly Murs has opened up about the severity of his knee problems following years of surgeries and treatments. The 41-year-old singer, known from The X Factor, has endured four operations on his knee over the past seven years, including a major ACL reconstruction in 2019/2020 and another surgery in February 2022 after a fragment of bone became lodged in his leg during a performance.

In addition to these surgeries, Olly has been diagnosed with arthritis in his knee, a complication he revealed after his operations. Today, he shared a new health update with fans by posting a photo of himself undergoing an MRI scan.

“Today I went in for an MRI check-up on my knee. A lot of you probably don’t know how bad it actually was… the severity of it and the complications over the last 7 years,” Olly wrote. “Four operations later, countless hours, days and months of rehab with plenty of down days! I can honestly say the last 3 years have been unreal… The work I put in during that period has changed everything.”

He added that his quality of life has greatly improved: “Day-to-day life feels amazing again. Performing on stage another level and most importantly… running after Madi round the house. Yeahhh I still get the odd arthritic niggle and moments where I feel it… but that’s part of the journey for me now.”

Olly emphasized the importance of regular check-ups to ensure proper healing: “So it’s always important to check in and make sure everything internally is as it should be. Happy to say it’s in great shape.”

He also expressed gratitude to his medical team: “Big love to Andy Williams (the surgeon who made it possible) plus the dream team @rob_solly & @johngreenphysiotherapy for the time, patience… and counselling over the years. I’ll sort the hearing aids.”

Fans flooded the comments with supportive messages. One wrote, “Quite amazing really when you think what surgery can do now. Glad it’s all going OK though.” Another said, “So so glad everything is going well with it.” A third added, “And you’re still dancing around like the proper showman you are. Proud of you and your journey. I’m glad everything went OK.”

Olly’s openness about his ongoing recovery serves as an inspiring reminder of resilience and the power of perseverance.
