Octopus Energy to Automatically Pass £134 Savings to Customers from April

Octopus Energy, one of the UK’s leading gas and electricity suppliers, has announced it will automatically pass on savings worth around £134 to each customer starting April 1, 2026. This follows the government’s Autumn Budget policy, which removes certain costs from energy bills to ease the financial burden on consumers.

The energy company has already informed its customers that their typical yearly bills will decrease by approximately £134 with no need for customers to change tariffs or take any additional steps. This reduction applies even to those on fixed-price plans, ensuring everyone benefits equally.

Octopus Energy is urging other suppliers to follow its lead and implement transparent, automatic reductions to help make energy more affordable and fair. Greg Jackson, CEO and Founder of Octopus Energy, expressed his support for the government’s action and emphasized the company’s commitment to passing these savings on without delay or hassle.

Well-known financial expert Martin Lewis praised Octopus Energy’s move as a positive step toward greater transparency and consumer benefit. He highlighted concerns over potential confusion if other firms fail to clearly reflect budget cuts, stressing the importance of easy-to-understand pricing changes.

This initiative forms part of Octopus Energy’s ongoing mission to simplify energy costs and provide customers with tangible financial relief in an increasingly challenging market.
