Octopus Energy is stepping up to support pubs during the World Cup by offering free electricity from 7pm to midnight on match days featuring England and Scotland, starting June 11. This initiative aims to help pubs manage their energy costs during one of the busiest times of the year.
Landlords have welcomed the move warmly. Declan Perkins, who owns Clissold Park Tavern, The Lauriston, and The Regent pubs in London, shared his enthusiasm: “The World Cup is one of our busiest times — so free electricity on the evenings England and Scotland are playing is a real help as we focus on giving our customers a brilliant match day experience.”
Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Octopus Energy for Business, highlighted the social role pubs play: “Pubs are where friends catch up and, during a big tournament, where entire rooms can celebrate and despair in unison. We wanted to give pubs something to celebrate.”

Pubs with an Octopus Energy for Business tariff and a smart meter need to register for the free power scheme before the tournament begins to take advantage of the offer.
This announcement follows Octopus Energy’s latest customer satisfaction success. According to the recent nationwide report by Ofgem and Citizens Advice, 90% of Octopus customers report being satisfied or very satisfied with the service, substantially above the Great Britain average of 81%.
Octopus Energy was the only supplier to outperform the market average significantly in overall customer satisfaction. In terms of customer service, Octopus scored an impressive 86%, notably higher than the national average of 77%, maintaining its position as a market leader. Customer dissatisfaction remains exceptionally low, with only 4% unhappy overall and just 3% dissatisfied with customer service—figures that are the lowest across all major energy providers.
