Britain’s most luxurious train, the 1930s-inspired Pullman-style Northern Belle, is set to stop at Birmingham International Station, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience for travelers willing to pay up to £1,000 for a ticket.
This exclusive journey will take passengers to Royal Ascot for the prestigious Ladies Day, with tickets starting at £795. For those seeking an even more lavish experience, the Krug Class option is available at an additional £195, promising unrivaled luxury.
Despite the premium prices, tickets are nearly sold out. Actor Bill Nighy has praised the Northern Belle as “the Grand Dame of luxury travel” during its appearance on Channel 5 last year, boosting its appeal among discerning travelers.

Originally part of the famed Orient Express collection, the Northern Belle attracts considerable attention from trainspotters and railway enthusiasts alike, who have been cautioned to avoid crowding the platform when the train arrives.
On June 18, the train—pulled by a heritage diesel engine—will serve a three-course brunch en route to Ascot. After enjoying the race day in the Queen Anne Enclosure, passengers will be welcomed back on board with a champagne reception, followed by a sumptuous six-course dinner accompanied by fine wine and port. Live musicians will serenade guests throughout the elegant dining experience.
The Northern Belle will return to Birmingham on June 20 for a scenic trip to Edinburgh, including a visit to the late Queen Elizabeth’s Royal Yacht Britannia at Leith. Additional journeys to Edinburgh are scheduled for July, capped off by a steam-hauled tour of the breathtaking Settle-Carlisle line.
Fares for these journeys start at £445. A spokesperson emphasized the importance of passenger safety and comfort, requesting that admirers and photographers respect the space and mindful conduct around the train.
