Next UK Snow Bomb to Bring Up to 11 Inches of Snow in England: Arrival Date Set

The UK is bracing for a significant winter weather event as fresh snow is forecast to arrive next week, with WX Charts and the Met Desk data indicating a sweeping cold snap set to hit on Monday, February 16. Weather maps have shifted to a bright white hue, signaling widespread snowfall across the region.

Temperatures are expected to plunge to around -5°C in the Scottish Highlands, which are predicted to be the hardest hit. Meanwhile, England will not be spared, with lows of approximately -3°C forecast for the North East, North West, and parts of the Midlands.

Snow accumulation could reach a staggering 51 inches in the Cairngorms. England, however, is also poised to see notable snowfall levels, with up to 11 inches expected in counties such as Yorkshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, and Greater Manchester. The Global Forecast System (GFS) model suggests that this blanket of snow could extend over a 350-mile stretch, from Manchester in the north of England all the way to the Highlands of Scotland.

According to the BBC Weather forecast, this cold snap will dominate from February 16 through to early March, although a gradual warming trend is anticipated thereafter. The middle of February is expected to remain colder than usual across much of the UK, with milder air masses moving in during the latter half of the month, bringing wetter and windier conditions.

Scotland may experience prolonged cold temperatures, potentially remaining below normal well into the third week of February before the milder weather arrives. This means snow is likely to precede rain across northern hills and mountains, particularly in Scotland, though there remains some uncertainty about the timing and pace of this warming.

Further updates, including a closer look at the cold spell’s duration and the onset of milder conditions, will be provided in upcoming forecasts through late February and into early March.
