Next UK Snow Bomb to Blanket England Except Two Southern Counties

The UK is bracing for a major snow event spanning an impressive 735 miles, expected to hit on February 1. According to WX Charts, this sweeping blizzard will cover Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and most of England—except for Cornwall and Dorset on the southern coast, which are forecast to avoid snowfall.

Scotland will be blanketed in snow with temperatures plunging to around -9°C. Meanwhile, much of southern England faces lighter snowfall totals of less than 3cm. Wales, particularly its northern coast, is predicted to experience the heaviest snowfall, with up to 12cm accumulating.

Across England, numerous counties are set to see snow and cold conditions, including Somerset, the West Midlands, Yorkshire, Sussex, Cambridgeshire, Kent, Durham, Cumbria, Northumberland, Cheshire, Essex, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Wiltshire, Norfolk, Hampshire, Suffolk, Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Berkshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Greater Manchester, Shropshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Derbyshire, and Lancashire.

Temperature forecasts vary, with Scotland facing lows of -5°C. The North East and North West of England are expected to range between -2°C and -1°C. North and Mid Wales will hover near -2°C, while South Wales could see temperatures as low as -1°C.

The BBC Weather outlook from January 26 to February 1 highlights ongoing uncertainty but leans toward colder conditions driven by high pressure forming to the northeast and north of the UK. This weather pattern could bring cold easterly winds, sharp wind chill, frost, and intermittent snow showers, with some areas experiencing more substantial snowfall bands.

However, the forecast remains delicate—if high pressure weakens, Atlantic weather systems might push eastward, potentially bringing milder conditions back to the region. As such, residents should stay prepared for cold and snowy weather but remain alert to updates in the upcoming week.
