A new dining option is set to join Birmingham’s vibrant city centre food scene as Panko and Sushi prepares to open a restaurant in Brindleyplace, continuing a popular culinary trend in the city for 2026.
The new outlet will occupy a ground floor unit in the Foundry building at 6 Brindleyplace, marking Panko and Sushi’s first venture into Birmingham. Currently, the chain operates four locations across England, including Macclesfield, Stoke-on-Trent, Bury and Colne.
This opening will bring the total number of new sushi restaurants introduced in Birmingham this year to six, all conveniently located within walking distance of each other. The exact date for Panko and Sushi’s launch has yet to be confirmed but is anticipated to take place in the autumn.

Other sushi establishments expected to debut around the same time include Sticks ‘n’ Sushi on Chamberlain Square and KIBOU round on Temple Row. Earlier in the year, Sushidog opened in the Bullring in January, followed by Sushi Tachi’s July opening in Grand Central. More recently, Maki and Ramen attracted large crowds upon its opening on New Street, offering both noodles and sushi.
Panko and Sushi is also expanding beyond Birmingham with a forthcoming branch planned for Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire.
In addition to sushi developments, Birmingham is preparing for another new restaurant opening in Grand Central, where Bunsik will replace Shokupan next to Nando’s. Bunsik will serve Korean street food, featuring dishes such as corn dogs and bibimbap.
