Pegasus Primary School in Castle Vale, Birmingham, is set to welcome its youngest learners with the launch of a new nursery in September 2026. Thanks to a generous £150,000 grant, the school is developing a vibrant nursery environment featuring a garden with raised beds and bespoke play areas designed to foster exploration and creativity.
The nursery will provide 20 places for two-year-olds and another 20 for three and four-year-olds, offering both 15 and 30-hour free childcare options. Children will benefit from a carefully structured curriculum based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), blending child-led play with adult-guided learning, storytelling, practical activities, and rich opportunities for exploration and communication.
Principal Adam Ames expressed enthusiasm about the project, saying, “We’re delighted to receive this grant to build a school-based nursery that serves our community’s needs. Families want their children to start early with us and transition smoothly into primary school, and this facility will help us provide a consistent, high-quality educational journey.”

Operating during term time from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, the nursery’s schedule aligns with the primary school day, making it convenient for parents to manage drop-offs and pick-ups. This seamless integration aims to minimize transitions for children as they move from nursery to reception.
Previously, a private nursery existed on the school site, but this new provision will be fully managed by Pegasus Primary School as part of its commitment to local education.
