New Motorhome and Campervan Parking Restrictions Take Effect in England on July 6

Starting July 6, new restrictions on motorhome and campervan parking will be enforced by Redcar and Cleveland Council along Marine Parade. These changes aim to address concerns from local residents about extended vehicle parking, while still accommodating visiting motorhome users.

Under the new rules, motorhomes can only park in the designated marked bays on the north side of Marine Parade. Each vehicle is allowed a maximum stay of four hours in these bays, with a mandatory four-hour gap before returning. These restrictions apply from Monday to Saturday between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Outside of these hours and on Sundays, no time limits will be enforced in the marked bays.

Motorhomes are completely prohibited from parking in the unmarked areas on both the north and south sides of Marine Parade at all times. These restricted zones will be clearly marked with single yellow lines and appropriate signage. Other types of vehicles will not be affected and may park without restrictions in these sections.

Importantly, the measures do not impose overnight motorhome parking bans or introduce new parking charges. This balanced approach seeks to manage parking availability for residents and visitors alike without eliminating motorhome access.

Cllr Carl Quartermain, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, emphasized the council’s commitment to listening to community feedback throughout the trial period. The restrictions have been introduced under an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order, enabling the council to monitor effectiveness and consider adjustments based on input from residents, businesses, and visitors before deciding the scheme’s permanent future.
