New Data Reveals Birmingham’s Most Dangerous Neighbourhoods

Recent crime statistics from West Midlands Police highlight which areas in Birmingham experience the highest rates of violent and sexual offences.

While Birmingham has a varied crime profile, with many neighbourhoods experiencing relatively low levels of crime, several areas consistently report elevated numbers of serious offences. This data provides valuable insight into where residents face the greatest risks.

The city’s regions of Lozells and East Handsworth continue to top the list, recording the highest number of violent crimes in the 12 months up to July, with a total of 2,420 incidents. Aston also remains a hotspot, registering 2,381 such crimes during the same period. Other areas with significant crime rates exceeding 2,000 offences include South Yardley and Stockland Green.

These figures encompass a wide range of serious crimes, ranging from murders, stabbings, and robberies to domestic abuse and sexual assaults, reflecting the most severe challenges facing local communities.

Several of these areas have been the sites of recent violent gang-related incidents, including shootings and stabbings, underscoring ongoing safety concerns for residents. For instance, Lozells witnessed two stabbing incidents last month alone.
