Thousands of households across England will benefit from new financial support worth up to £500 to help with energy and water bills in the New Year. The Household Support Fund, provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Labour Party government, is now available to eligible residents in Camden and other areas.
The fund is designed to assist households facing severe financial hardship by offering grants of up to £500. In Camden, support is available to residents who have lived in the borough for at least six weeks and are the main tenant or council tax payer. Applicants must be over 16 years old and living independently, or over 18, and have not exceeded the maximum number of awards — typically two per household within a 12-month period.
Local authorities emphasize that the Cost of Living Fund and Household Support Fund provide critical emergency assistance to those struggling with their bills. To apply, households will need to provide details of any benefits received, recent bank statements for all accounts, and evidence of any relevant debts. This information helps councils accurately assess financial circumstances and ensure applicants receive all the support they are entitled to.

By submitting an application, applicants consent to the local authority reviewing their benefit status, using their information for support applications, and sharing details with external advice partners when referrals are made. Applicants are advised to read the privacy notice carefully before completing the form.
This targeted support aims to ease the burden on households affected by ongoing economic challenges and help meet essential living costs.
