New £300 Cost of Living Payments Announced for State Pensioners in Worcestershire

State pensioners and vulnerable households in Worcestershire are set to receive much-needed financial assistance through the expanded Household Support Fund (HSF), announced by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and implemented by Worcestershire Council. This £300 payment aims to ease the rising cost of living, particularly for those struggling the most.

The Labour Party government has broadened the HSF eligibility to support a wide range of residents, including families with children, pensioners, unpaid carers, care leavers, and people with disabilities. To qualify for this support, applicants must be permanent residents of Worcestershire with a combined household income below £31,000 before tax. Additionally, households should have no savings and include at least one vulnerable member, such as someone with a long-term health condition, disability, or unmanageable debt.

Pensioners receiving pension credit will either have already received a one-off payment or will receive a voucher shortly if they have just started claiming. For qualifying households with one or two pension-age adults, payments can reach up to £300. Similarly, households comprised of adults aged between 18 and 66 may also receive up to £300.

Energy support payments will be issued based on the household’s billing method. These can be paid directly to the energy supplier via bank transfer, credited through an online portal, or provided as Post Office vouchers for pre-payment meters. It is important to note that pre-payment meter vouchers can only be redeemed as energy credit on keys or cards and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Applicants are encouraged to submit digital evidence via email to [email protected] or send paper documents by post to Act on Energy, Unit 2, Lauriston Business Park, Salford Priors, Warwickshire WR11 8SN. All submitted applications are currently being processed. To avoid delays, applicants should ensure all required evidence and forms have been provided.
