Neighbours Star Ryan Moloney Opens Up About Suicidal Thoughts and ADHD Diagnosis

Ryan Moloney, best known for his role as Jarrod “Toadfish” Rebecchi on Neighbours for 30 years, has revealed the painful mental health struggles he faced before being diagnosed with ADHD. The 46-year-old actor broke down during an emotional interview on Channel 4’s Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, sharing a candid account of his darkest moments.

During Sunday’s episode, Ryan spoke about the immense pressure of balancing his demanding acting career with family life and personal ambitions. “It’s a very hectic time when you go to work and you’re in this headspace for 12 hours, then you go home and try to do family life and learn lines for the next day,” he explained. He described piling on extra stress by investing in property and building farms, calling it “the ultimate stress after stress after stress.”

The actor’s vulnerability was clear as he admitted feeling like “nothing’s ever good enough.” Overwhelmed by the relentless pressure, Ryan confessed to a moment when he stood alone in a paddock, contemplating ending his life. “I found myself standing in a paddock going, ‘If this is it, I don’t want to do it anymore,'” he recalled tearfully.

Recognizing he needed help, Ryan sought answers and was eventually diagnosed with ADHD. “Once I got the diagnosis, it was the best news I’ve ever heard,” he shared. “Now I understand why my brain does what it does, why I see things differently.”

Reflecting on his journey, he emphasized the importance of understanding mental health. “Before my diagnosis, there was so much stress, pressure, and that constant feeling of being lost. When you feel like you want to quit on life, don’t. Find an answer.”

Ryan’s honest story highlights the challenges many face silently and the empowerment that comes with embracing one’s mental health journey.
