In a continued move towards digital banking, NatWest, Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland will close a total of 86 branches in June 2026. This marks another phase of branch closures as these institutions respond to the growing preference for online banking among customers.
Santander, which has already closed 40 branches in 2026, primarily in Birmingham, plans to shut an additional four branches before February 1, 2027. Specific closure dates for these remaining branches have not yet been confirmed.
NatWest will close 14 more branches in June, following several closures earlier in the year. Lloyds Group will also reduce its physical presence with 37 Lloyds, 25 Halifax, and 10 Bank of Scotland branches scheduled for closure next month across the UK.

These closures reflect a broader trend in the banking industry, where digital services increasingly replace traditional branch banking, allowing financial institutions to streamline operations while meeting evolving customer demands.
