NatWest enhances Reward Platinum card with no foreign transaction fees and new benefits

NatWest has announced a significant update to its Reward Platinum debit card that will benefit customers who travel internationally. Effective from 1 October, customers using this card will no longer incur foreign transaction fees when making purchases abroad or paying in foreign currencies.

Currently, NatWest charges a 2.75% fee on overseas transactions, including card payments and cash withdrawals. This change means that from October, such fees will be waived for relevant transactions made with the Reward Platinum debit card. However, the fee waiver does not apply to cash withdrawals, and other overseas providers may still charge their own fees.

Alongside this, NatWest is introducing a suite of new travel, health, and lifestyle benefits for Reward Platinum customers. The account will feature enhanced travel perks via DragonPass Premier+, offering services such as travel eSIMs and exclusive airport benefits.

Health support services are also being added, including 24/7 access to a Virtual GP, physiotherapy, and mental health support. Customers will continue to have travel insurance, UK AA breakdown cover, and mobile phone insurance, with family cover now included for the latter.

Lifestyle enhancements include cinema discounts through tastecard, which remains part of the benefits package.

As part of these improvements, NatWest will adjust the monthly account fee from £22 to £23. The bank highlighted that while customers will continue earning £4 in rewards, the previous reward of £1 for logging into the app will be discontinued.

NatWest stated: “Our customers have told us what matters most to them, and we’ve used this to shape the changes we’re making to your account benefits from 1st October 2026. We’re bringing together insurance, health, travel and lifestyle benefits all in one place.”

This update aims to deliver greater value and convenience for Reward Platinum cardholders, especially those planning holidays or frequent overseas travel.
