NatWest Commits £250 Million to Boost Affordable Housing in Four English Regions

NatWest has announced a major £250 million investment to support Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH) in delivering affordable housing across four key regions in England: London, the South East, East Midlands, and East of England. This funding boost will enable MTVH to enhance the supply of homes across various tenures, including social rent, affordable rent, shared ownership, and key worker housing.

MTVH’s ambitious MTVH 2030 strategy aims to deliver 6,000 new homes, with around 4,000 currently under construction as part of its extensive development programme. This includes significant projects such as Leeside Road in Enfield, 55 West in West Ealing, TwelveTrees Park in West Ham, and the extensive regeneration of the Clapham Park estate.

Duncan Brown, MTVH’s Chief Financial Officer, highlighted the importance of this partnership, saying, “Following a record year for development, this collaboration with NatWest strengthens our ability to meet the urgent demand for affordable homes across the country, while also improving our existing housing stock.”

John Horton, Relationship Director at NatWest, emphasized the broader benefits of social housing investment: “Affordable, quality housing is crucial not only for residents but for the prosperity of local communities and businesses. MTVH’s proven track record in delivering high-quality homes makes them an ideal partner as we support the growth and sustainability of these regions.”

In addition to expanding housing availability, MTVH is committed to sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing energy costs and increasing energy efficiency for residents. The financing package, which includes a 10-year term loan and a three-year revolving credit facility completed in March 2026, also refinances existing debt while providing capital for future development and long-term operational plans.

This partnership marks a significant step forward in addressing the affordable housing shortage and enhancing the quality of life for thousands of residents across multiple English regions.
