NatWest has announced a significant appointment that will impact all its customers, particularly those in the venture capital and innovation sectors. Andrew Hunter has joined the bank as Managing Director of Venture Capital Coverage, a pivotal role within NatWest’s rapidly expanding Venture Banking team.
This addition enhances the team led by Jenny Edwards, Head of Venture Banking, who joined earlier this year with a clear mission to support the UK’s most ambitious and innovative venture-backed scaleups. The team focuses on delivering bespoke financial solutions, strategic guidance, and building strong connections within the innovation ecosystem.
Andrew Hunter brings extensive experience to NatWest, having previously served as Managing Director of Investor Coverage at HSBC Innovation Banking. There, he managed relationships with prominent venture and growth investors across the UK and Europe. His background also includes diverse roles at Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) in London, covering Corporate, Funds, and Venture Banking, as well as early career experience at Lloyds Banking Group specializing in mid-market corporate clients.
Jenny Edwards expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome Andrew Hunter as Managing Director of Venture Capital Coverage. His expertise and passion for supporting founders and investors align perfectly with our goal to build a market-leading proposition for the UK’s innovation economy.”
Andrew Hunter also shared his excitement: “Joining NatWest Venture Banking is a fantastic opportunity. The innovation economy is a driving force in the UK’s growth, and I am impressed by NatWest’s commitment to supporting ambitious companies and their investors. I look forward to contributing to this momentum and driving forward initiatives that benefit our clients.”
